Work is progressing steadily on the Ho Multipurpose Youth Resource Centre being built at Adaklu in the Volta Region.
The Resource Centre, a sporting facility when completed will host a FIFA standard football pitch, an eight-lane athletic track, a handball, basketball, volleyball, table tennis courts and a gymnasium. The facility would also have an ICT Centre, a modern restaurant, an entrepreneurship and counseling centers.
A visit to the center saw workers on site trying to put finishing touch to the project. Work on the Playing Field, the Running Track, Drainage system, roofing of the VIP stand and the construction of a Tennis court are among sections of the first stage being focused on.
Lord Asante, the site engineer said the project is about 85% completed at its first stage.
“We are done with all structural works; as you can see, we are trying to import foreign materials for filling the playing surface before adding a black soil for planting. Once this is done we are ready for grass planting in the phase Two,” he said.
Mr Asante also added: “work materials and other equipment needed for the completion of the first stage of the project is readily available and they will work assiduously to meet the March ending ultimatum given for the completion of the first stage after the numerous difficulties they faced during the execution of the project.”
Work on the ICT Lap, Dressing Rooms, Counseling Center, Restaurant and other offices have been completed.
The 1.8 million USD Youth resource center was expected to be completed somewhere February 2019, nine months after sod cutting but is yet to see that reality barely after 2 years.
