The Member of Parlaiment (MP) for Tema West, Carlos Ahenkorah, snatched the ballot papers used in electing the Speaker of Parliament disrupting the proceedings of the House.

This was after Mr. Ahenkorah had realised the probability of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) nominated Speaker, Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, losing out to Alban Sumana Bagbin of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

After the counting of the first set of ballot papers the NDC member for Asawase, Mohmmed-Mubarak Muntaka,  signaled his colleague NDC MPs-elect that they had won by two votes.

Occupying the Majority side of the House,  the NDC MPs-elect, burst into spontaneous jubilation after that signal whiles the counting of the second set of ballots had started and was ongoing.

The Tema West MP elect Mr. Ahenkorah moved from where he was seated in the House towards where the counting was taking place as if he was called to assist with counting, and suddenly snatched the ballot papers from the hands of the Clerk of Parliament and took off running out of the Chamber when security  stopped him.He was chased  and grabbed outside the chamber.

There was however a message suggesting that the counting process should be done again, which the NDC MPs-elect  out rightly disagreed but continued to jubilate with many remaining shocked of the outcome as well as the behaviour of the Tema West MP-elect.
