A rather pathetic and distressing incident occurred early hours of Tuesday, August 31, 2021, when neighbours of Kubekrom, in the Kpong Katamanso District of the Greater Accra Region, woke up to a rather bizarre happening.
The residents discovered that a man in their neighbourhood had butchered and killed his wife and consequently hanged himself.
According to neighbours, the incident occurred around 2 a.m.
GBC’s Jay Garbrah who was at the scene of the incident reported that when he got to the scene at the time when the police had arrived to convey the bodies of the deceased, there was a hold up because they were told the chiefs of the town needed to perform some rituals before the bodies would be removed from the room and conveyed to the morgue.
A distraught daughter of the deceased, who was with the police at the scene of the incident, was obviously overwhelmed with emotions, and could not speak to the media.
Narrating the incident, however, Mathew, a son of the deceased, who was also with the Police at the scene, confirmed that he had a distress call around 2 a.m., from a friend to report at his mother’s house, upon arrival, he saw that his mother’s husband had butchered her and he had ended his life, by hanging himself.
Residents also told GBC News that the couple rented the premises from a Landlord, who had said that the couple had been involved in fracas on many occasions, often degenerating into what they believed maybe a domestic abuse situation.
