A Principal Research Officer at the Copyright Office Issah Mahama, has called for a review of the copyright law. He said the country stands to lose in revenue if people’s intellectual property are not protected.
Issah Mahama said this at the launch of his book titled; “Intellectual Property in Ghana, Copyright and Related Rights.” Mr. Mahama also called for an expansion of the copyright law to cover persons with disabilities.
The Chief Executive Officer of Stanbic Bank, Alhassan Andani, noted that Africa is under-developed because it does not take intellectual property seriously. He reiterated the call to take a second look at the intellectual property law.
A Former Copyright Administrator, Bernard Bosumprah, said technology is fast changing, therefore, the copyright law must be reviewed to meet the changing trends.
