Member of Parliament, MP, for Ketu South, Dzifa Gomashie has renewed calls on the government to re-open the country’s land borders to propel economic activities.
Her latest call follows a similar one made by the Minority in Parliament during an encounter with the Media, on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 urging the government to re-open the borders immediately.
Madam Gomashie was speaking on GTV’s Breakfast Show, on March 16, 2022.
She expressed worry that the country’s land borders have remained closed for the past two years, denying people of the border Communities the luxury of trading and other activities.
Madam Gomashie said ”it is time for the government to come up with well thought out strategies to help the ordinary people living at the borders”.
Responding to a question on whether she and her colleague MPs whose constituencies fall within the borders have joined forces to mount pressure on the government to reopen the borders, she answered in the affirmative and wondered whether they have to resort to picketing in front of the seat of government before their request will be granted.
