National triple jumper Nadia Eke has charged the government of Ghana to treat the female national U20 team same as the Black Stars following their qualification for the FIFA women’s u20 world cup.
The Black Princess beat Ethiopia 2-1 in Accra in the last leg to complete a 5-1 aggregate scoreline following their 3nil win in Addis Ababa in the reverse fixture.
Though both the Black Stars and the Black Princess have all qualified for the world cup, the Black Stars were given a preferential treatment by meeting with the president and the vice at the Jubilee house for their triumph.
This according to the Olympian is unfortunate and demotivating. Irritated by the development, the Olympian called out the President for the preferential treatment of the Black Stars insisting that the “same energy” should be kept for the Princesses, who also made the country proud
The Black Stars players and technical team were hosted at the Jubilee House by government on Wednesday, a day after they earned a 1-1 draw against Nigeria in Abuja to book a spot at the tournament in Qatar.
She took to her Instagram stories to express her views;
“Cool and all but I need y’all to keep the same energy for our U-20 Women’s team who also qualified for their World Cup,” she posted on Instagram, along with a photo of Nana Addo and the Black Stars.
She added that she was disappointed with the kind of message that such an action would send to young girls in the country.
“Also, what message do we send young girls about their importance when we do stuff like this. It’s 2022, do better. Disappointed but not surprised.”
