As Ghanaians await President Akufo-Addo to speak on measures taken by the government to address economic challenges, some Ghanaians are hoping that the address will bring some respite to them.
Speaking to GBC GHANA ONLINE, some attributed the current economic woes, especially arbitrary increases in prices of food commodities to the bad attitudes of Traders.
They noted that traders increased prices of products arbitrarily without recourse to any streamlined input, thereby worsening the situation.
Linda Odame Aryeetey, a student says she is optimistic about the broadcast.
“I am expecting the government to talk about the dollar rate, since the dollar increased prices has increase in Ghana. Even when you are holding thirty pesewas walking in this scorching sun, you cannot even get water buy water, so we are pleading with the government to make sure the dollar reduces.”
Gifty, a Seamstress, says the hardship is global but Ghana out to find a way out.
“The hardship is not in Ghana alone, so we should stop blaming the government and change our ways.”
Benjamin, a Teacher, on his part said the indiscipline within the market space must be curtailed to create some sanctity in the country.
“The high prices of commodities is really affecting our livelihoods every single day. We are really suffering. You go the market today and things are high, you go tomorrow and is higher, the next day you go and is highest. Prices are always in an escalation.”
