Football Administrator and Sports Analyst, Ebo Appiah has blamed Ghanaians for the abysmal performance of the Black Stars at the ongoing FIFA 2022 World Cup.
Speaking on the GTV Sports+ Match Day Show, he stated that the Black Stars are not able to give their best when they are playing for the national team because they are scared Ghanaians will condemn them for the slightest mistake.
“The boys are heavy when they’re going to play for us. They don’t want to make a mistake,” he said.
Mr. Appiah made this statement at the back of a torrent of criticism from the majority of Ghanaians when Andrè Dede Ayew missed his penalty in the Black Stars’ match against their arch-rival, Uruguay.
He called on Ghanaians to change their attitude toward the players.
“We must begin to change our approach towards the boys. Perhaps that will also soften their hearts and the way they demand things. That is why, when it comes to appearance fees, they don’t joke because we won’t spare them,” he added.
The Sports Analyst also called on the government to provide a proper environment and structures like a football academy to improve the game of football in the country.
