As part of the tradition to pave the way for the African Games, a torch relay has to be taken to some key figures and participating countries to ensure Africa and the world witness a memorable African games.
The torch relay was presented to Asantehene Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II on Monday, March 4, 2024, at the Manhyia Palace, marking a sign of respect and recognition for the role Otumfuo plays in the progress of the Asante Kingdom and Ghana as a whole.
This initiative was spearheaded by the Local Organising Committee led by Dr. Kwaku Ofosu Asare, who is the head of the committee, ahead of the big African games in Accra, Ghana.
The torch relay, which has already visited some dominant African countries, finally has to make a stop at the Manhyia Palace before the big showpiece commerces on March 8 to allow a smooth and successful African Games for history to be made as over 2 billion people across the world will be experiencing the African dream.
The final place to receive the torch relay will be the President of the Republic of Ghana’s residence at the Jubilee House on Thursday, March 7, 2024, before the opening ceremony of the African Games takes place on Friday, March 8, 2024.
