Graphic Communication Group Limited (GCGL), has integrated new board members to steer the affairs of the corporation.
During the inauguration on August 20, 2024, the Managing Director of the GCGL, Ato Afful, underscored the need to refocus the graphic business on the digital-first agenda to ensure the business continues to remain relevant and engaging.
GCGL was established in 1950 as the West Africa Graphic Limited by the Daily Mirror Group of newspapers in the United Kingdom headed by Cecil King.
Through quality governance, GCGL has witnessed significant improvement in the past that has translated into transparency and accountability through the competence delivery of its board members.
Management of GCGL commended the unwavering efforts of the outgoing board members as they handed over the baton to new board members to continue to build on the solid foundation laid.
Mr. Ato Afful emphasised that GCGL, in order to continue to empower the digital ecosystem, built a digital studio to enable GCGL to create multimedia content and podcasts, furthering the word base graphic.com.gh and graphic news plus app as it is the project currently under the Chairman mandate.
He highlighted that the depreciation of cedis is tremendously impacting the production inputs of the graphic business.
Stating that the “Newsprint, inks, printing plates, and news spare parts that manage press media are all imported from Germany and foreign currencies are used to purchase these goods and the need for capital as challenges ahead.”.
Chairman of the National Media Commission, NMC, Yaw Boadu-Ayeboafo, charged the new board members to serve the interests of the people and the nation.
In his remarks, the newly appointed Chairman of the Graphic Communication Group Limited, Theophilus Yartey, on behalf of his team, expressed gratitude to his predecessor, Professor Olivia Frimpong Kwapong, and her team for working tirelessly to maintain Graphic Communication Group Limited as the most credible, reputable print media outlet in the country.
He promised to work with his team closely with management and key stakeholders to address challenges to achieve the vision and mission of the company.
With the inauguration of the new board members, Graphic Communication Group Limited (GCGL), is poised to embark on a new era of growth, innovation, and excellence in journalism.
