The Upper East Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, has announced that the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), will provide more than 400 job opportunities, especially for the youth in the region.

Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih revealed this to journalists during the reception and inspection of the DRIP equipment in Bolgatanga. When the Regional Minister Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih finally inspected the DRIP equipment in the Bolgatanga Municipality, he commended the government for opening up to the needs of the people, particularly in road infrastructure.

He indicated that the roads in the Upper East Region are very deplorable, with the hope that the equipment would be a relief to the assemblies in their quest to improve the road network and to open up the communities and towns to the farmers.

“It is my expectation that the various assemblies in the Upper East Region would put these equipment to good use. One of the challenges of our region has to do with our roads. But with these equipment, most of our roads would be improved upon,” he said.

Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih also expressed confidence that the operation of equipment would be a source of employment for the youth in the Upper East Region.

“Aside the road improvement sector, it will also create employment avenues. Each of the assemblies is expected to employ thirty (30) operators. So just by procuring these equipment alone, four hundred and fifty employment vacancies would be filled throughout the fifteen Municipal and District Assemblies in the Upper East Region.”

The Upper East Region received 117 pieces of equipment under the DRIP initiative that includes tipper trucks, motor graders, rollers, backhoes, graders, wheel loaders, among others, aimed at improving road construction and infrastructure in the region.
