Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has urged Ghanaians to vote for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the upcoming elections on Saturday, December 7.

Speaking at the NPP’s final rally at the University of Ghana Sports Park on December 5, Mr. Kufuor emphasized that only the NPP has the vision to move Ghana forward.

“The future is in your hands,” he told the crowd. “Make the right decision by voting for Dr. Bawumia on Saturday, and you will see how Ghana will progress. The NPP is the party of choice because we’ve always governed using principles handed down by our forefathers.”

Dr. Bawumia also appealed to voters to choose him as the next president, highlighting the contrast between progress and stagnation. “I represent the future of this country,” he said. “The choice is clear: do we want to move forward or go backward?”

He assured supporters that voting for the NPP would ensure a brighter future for Ghana. “We believe in transforming Ghana into an advanced nation because we have a mindset of possibilities,” Dr. Bawumia stated, adding a light-hearted jab at his opponents with the phrase, “Are we moving into the future, or are we going back to the past with ‘nkukor nkitinkiti’ (chicks)?”

Highlighting the government’s achievements, Dr. Bawumia pointed to initiatives such as free secondary education, which has benefitted over five million students, restored teacher trainee allowances, and significant investments in health and education infrastructure. “No government has done more in these areas than the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration,” he declared, urging Ghanaians to retain the NPP in power.
