The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, has cast his vote in the ongoing Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu emerged from the Manhyia Palace chambers at exactly 12 noon in the company of his wife, Lady Julia Osei Tutu; the Running Mate of the NPP, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh; and the Ashanti Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Mr. Francis Osei Nsiah, among other dignitaries.

He was the first among them to go through the voting process, starting with the ballot in the Presidential poll.

His wife, Lady Julia Osei Tutu, was the next to also go through the voting process without let or hindrance.

They immediately afterwards left the Centre for the inner chamber of the Palace.

About five minutes later, the Asantehemaa, Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom, arrived in a black Mercedes Benz salon car and was assisted by the election officials to also exercise her franchise.

The biometric verification device could not identify her through her thumb and had to be verified after her photograph was taken before she could also successfully vote.

The Manhyia Palace 1 voting centre is one of three voting Centres within the Manhyia Palace and has 370 eligible voters on the register. As at 12:22 pm, 167 of them had voted.
