A man named Rufai was arrested at Animgazanga JHS polling station in the Bolga Central constituency for allegedly possessing suspected ballot papers.
Eyewitnesses said Rufai was caught red-handed with the materials, prompting the police to act immediately. He was taken to the regional police headquarters for further questioning.
The incident has created tension in the community, with many calling for strict adherence to electoral rules. The police are investigating to find out how Rufai got the suspected ballot papers.
Meanwhile, members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) claim the papers were not official ballots but were used to educate voters. However, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused some NPP members of engaging in vote-buying.
The Regional Police Public Relations Officer declined to comment, stating that the investigation is ongoing.
This development has raised concerns about the fairness of the electoral process in the constituency.
