The National Democratic Congress (NDC) headquarters in Accra is alive with celebration after Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, conceded defeat to his opponent John Dramani Mahama in Ghana’s 2024 Presidential Election.
Party supporters have gathered in large numbers, singing and dancing to mark what they see as a major victory for their candidate, John Mahama.
In a speech on Sunday, December 8, 2024, Dr. Bawumia congratulated Mahama on his win, describing him as Ghana’s President-elect.
Speaking from his residence, he said, “I have just called His Excellency John Dramani Mahama to congratulate him. As I said during the peace pact, Ghana will win, and peace will prevail.”
Dr. Bawumia explained that his decision to concede was to ensure calm and maintain national peace. His move has been widely praised as a sign of true leadership and commitment to Ghana’s stability.
Meanwhile, citizens across the country await the Electoral Commission’s official declaration of the results.
