Five districts surrounding the Mole National Park in the Savannah Region including Wa East, Sawla Tuna Kalba and Mumprugu-Mongduri are benefitting from a programme called “Mobilizing More for Climate” or MOMO4C, an initiative of Arocha Ghana.
Under the programme, the districts are being assisted with sufficient information on the risks posed by Climate Change, identify areas highly vulnerable to the phenomenon and how to address them. Speaking with GBC News’ Joyce Gyekye the Deputy National Coordinator of Arocha Ghana, Daryl Bosu said the districts are being assisted with developing adaptation plans which will help them to prioritize actions they need to take in dealing with issues like flooding and severe drought.
”On youth involvement in climate action, Daryl Bosu expressed worry that youth environment NGO’s are unable to source for earmarked funds due to poor project proposals. In view of this Arocha Ghana launched a call for proposal last year to assist successful youth applicants with good business projects within the northern landscape. The projects, he said, will be green to promote zero waste”.
