Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has charged the newly inaugurated board of the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC), to ensure that they develop the full value chain of the bauxite industry in the country. He emphasized that the work of the Board is crucial to the overall success of the Corporation.

GIADEC was established in 2018 with the mandate to develop and promote an Integrated Aluminium Industry in Ghana.

Speaking at the swearing-in of members of the Board in Accra, the sector Minister emphasised the importance of the aluminum industry to the industrialisation and the overall development of the country.

He said, “We cannot become an industrialised economy and you cannot also industrialise if you do not have an integrated and developed bauxite and aluminium industry, it’s just not possible.”

Mr Jinapor added that the integrated aspect of the industry is one that is of paramount interest to the President and therefore charged the board to do all it takes to ensure the retention of the full value chain of the bauxite resources in the country. He expressed confidence in the Board Chair and its members to deliver on their mandate.

The Chairman of the Board, Dr. Anthony Oteng Gyasi expressed his appreciation to the President on behalf of the board and promised to serve the administration and deliver results.

He assured the Minister of the commitment of the Board to ensure that the vision of the President in building a full value chain for the aluminum industry is realized. He, therefore, craved the support of the Minister to push against the existing pushbacks which will deprive the good people of Ghana of their resources.

Abena Osei-Asare, Jaezi Orleans-Linsey Esq, Dr. Henry Benyah, Nana Adutwumwaa Dokua-Okyehemaa, Nana Amampene Boateng Twum II ( Nyinahinhene) and a representative from the Integrated Aluminum Industry.
