Explosion: Appiatse Traditional Authority demand full scale probe over Police escort controversy

The Minister for Works and Housing, Francis Asenso Boakye has assured the Chiefs and residents of Appiatse who were affected by last week’s explosion, that the government will work expeditiously to rebuild the collapsed town.

Speaking during a fact finding visit to Appiatse, he said the devastation caused is more severe than he thought.

He said his Ministry and agencies have started taking inventory of all the affected members and promised that work will soon begin.

Addressing a durbar of Chiefs and residents in the Appiatse Community, Mr Asenso Boakye commended them for their resilience despite the devastating effects of the explosion.

Meanwhile, the Chief of the Community, Nana Atta Kodwo Breyembe has debunked reports that the vehicle transporting the explosives had a Police Escort and has demanded a full scale investigation into whether best practices were adhered to by the parties involved.

In reaction to the Chief’s plea, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, said a Committee has already been constituted and assured the Chief and residents that they will be duly included in the investigation process.
