The General Secretary of the West African Archaeological Association, Dr. Samuel Nkumbaan, has called on the public to help protect heritage sites in Ghana to preserve the country’s history.
He said Ghana’s heritage cannot be de-linked from its culture which is critical to development.
In an interview with GBC’s Radio Ghana on the sidelines of the on-going West African Archaeological Conference at the University of Ghana, Dr. Nkumbaan said apart from the Ashanti Traditional buildings and the Forts and Castles, no other heritage site in Ghana is listed on the World Heritage sites, partly due to the country’s inability to preserve such sites.
