The Mount Olivet Methodist Church at Dansoman in Accra has marked its 50th anniversary with a call on Ghanaians to jealously guard the peace prevailing in the country, especially as Ghana heads to the polls this year.
Supt Minister of the Church, Rt. Rev. Christopher Nyarko Andam, said while God is ready to see the country through a peaceful election, all stakeholders must perform their responsibilities to ensure this is realized.
He said that despite the economic and other challenges the country is facing, God will continue to provide for Ghanaians. He thanked the entire congregation for their support and charged them to focus on the evangelism drive to win more souls for Christ.
From a humble beginning nurtured by key leaders including Bro G. E. Dennis and Sister Beatrice ESHUN, the Mount Olivet Methodist Church has over the years contributed immensely to the spiritual growth, social and economic empowerment of the people in its catchment area and beyond.
The Golden Jubilee and Thanksgiving Service was to remember the goodness of Jesus Christ in the affairs of the church over the last 50 years while reminding the congregation of the great task of evangelism in the years ahead as part of the strategic growth plan.
The church intends to increase its membership and substance from now on. At the climax of its Golden Jubilee celebrations, the congregation was encouraged to play a critical role in the church’s evangelism drive.
Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, commended the church for its role in building the religious and spiritual lives of people in the community.
