The Ghana Police Service has arrested 12 individuals in connection with looting and damaging properties in various parts of the country. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were involved in a series of criminal acts, including attacks on state institutions and public infrastructure.

Among the most significant incidents, the suspects are accused of setting fire to the Electoral Commission (EC) office in Damango, located in the Savannah Region. The attack on the EC office is part of a wider pattern of violence, with the suspects also targeting the residences of District Chief Executives (DEs) and vandalizing several collation centers across the country.

In a separate incident, some suspects broke into the School Feeding Project Warehouse in Tamale, Northern Region, and stole foodstuffs and other supplies meant for the national feeding program.

Footage from the scenes of these attacks, looting, and vandalism has been collected and is being reviewed by investigators. Authorities are working to identify additional individuals involved in these crimes and bring them to justice.

The Ghana Police Service has called on the public to remain calm as law enforcement agencies intensify security measures. “We have deployed officers to key areas, and enhanced patrols are in place to restore order and prevent further violence,” a police spokesperson stated.

Police also assured the public that further arrests will be made, and they continue to investigate the incidents thoroughly. Authorities have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities as the investigation continues.
