Police continue to build capacity on keeping citizens safe

To bridge the trust gap between the Police and public, the Police administration has been organizing regular capacity-building programmes for Personnel. With the country in recent times witnessing some shooting banter between the Police and citizens, as well as a surge in other criminal activities, such refresher courses have become more pressing. This is why the Police Service in partnership with a German-based NGO, Hans Seidel has organized its latest training.

The Director of Transformation at the Police Service, Chief Superintendent Cuthbert Aapengwo, said the Police is poised through such training, to stay committed to making sure the public is safe.

Vanessa Adjei reports that the capacity building programme is the fourth in the series since last year and the last one for the month.

The course focuses on four thematic areas that seek to address the gaps within the Police Service and enhance their Professionalism.

Addressing the media, Director of the Transformation Department of the Service, Chief Superintendent Cuthbert Aapengwo expressed optimism the training will yield the desired impact.

Representative for Hans Seidel, Aridja Frank said the training has indeed achieved its purpose and hinted at extending it to other West African countries.

Participants were awarded Certificates.
