Retirees of GBC appeal to President Akufo-Addo to honour his pledge on pensioners’ benefits

Retired staff of GBC says they have become paupers after retirement. At a news conference in Accra, the retirees asked President Akufo-Addo to honour his pledge of ensuring that pensioners are fully paid their benefits.

A member of the group, George Ankrah said they want answers on how much SSNIT gave to Retirees of GBC, NPRA to be invested by the Fund Managers.

The retirees are seeking answers on the second tier and why SSNIT gave its management to NPRA and subsequently to Fund Managers. In the case of GBC, the Fund Managers, according to the retirees are unable to pay their lump sum.

Mr. George Ankrah said many of the retirees are burdened with serious financial difficulties coupled with nagging health issues.

The group said they will exhaust every available avenue to get their concerns addressed.

The retirees indicate that they will seek resolution with the Courts if needed.
