Ghanaian Music Icon, Rocky Dawuni has reiterated on the the GTV Breakfast Show that, African Leaders cannot change their economic status by using old ways.

The Ghanaian Reggae Icon in an interview stated that, African Leaders have been able to move their countries to new directions, but they have done so with old ways.

“You could never change the paradigm using old tools and you can never as they say he who feeds you controls you. For  a long time, I think that African leadership and African political establishment  have always come with a redbrick of should I say taking the country in New directions, but when it comes to implementing, we still goe to the old ways”, he said.

Rocky Dawuni urged African leaders to be more focused on the future and not the present.

“And every country thinking that development is about just the immediate where you go and take a lot of loans to make everybody feel OK for a moment and then in the long run the coming generations end up being the ones who have to deal with that, the burden is not OK. But here we are, a Continent with one of the most arable lands, with a youth population that is one of the most vibrant in the whole world. So we already have when you think of economic theory, we already have two of the most important resources that we need to invest to create  a dynamic new economy”, he stated.

Mr Dawuni however stated that, African leaders must think outside the box and utilise their strength to move forward.
You could never change the paradigm using old tools - Rocky Dawuni
“We  have to think outside the box. Utilise our strength to move forward.  So I feel  that investing in new areas like renewable energies. Right now our energies are focused on fossil fuel so I feel that both. Capitalise in renewables , solar, look at Africa , we’re close to the equator, we have the biggest Sahara . The sun shines here but we don’t control the space of solar energy. If you have the people that they don’t realise to change and everything you wait for others to come and take advantage of that resource and then we go to them  to get the resources the loans and everything to still sink ourselves in them. It is still not a sustainable model.  So my thing is  to challenge our leadership that you have to think outside the box..my thing is  to challenge our leadership that you. It’s not a matter of winning elections, it’s not a matter of political colours that you belong to,  we have to get a bigger idea of self and feel that, that is the only way that we can be able to advance as a  people”, Rocky Dawuni emphasized.
