The Ghana Revenue Authority, GRA has set aside the month of April as a Tax and good governance month.

It forms part of increasing awareness and educating citizens on filing tax returns, its benefits and being tax compliant to the development of the nation.

This year’s sensitization focuses on the informal sector workers specifically the self-employed.

The GRA said it intends to promote the culture of paying taxes by moving its offices closer to the people. Some of their activities for this month will take place at the markets, transportation terminals and corporate organizations.

Speaking on Uniiq Breakfast Drive, Chief Revenue Officer at GRA, Mr. Akogo Victor said filing of tax returns among corporate bodies, individuals and self-employed workers is obligatory under the tax laws, hence, the need for people to file their tax returns.

He explained the benefits of filing tax returns and said that there are rights individuals enjoy by filing their taxes.
