President Akufo-Addo says Ghana’s economy is on track despite effects of Covid-19 pandemic

President Akufo-Addo has delivered the State of the Nation Address to Parliament with major focus on the Economy, Health, Education and Agriculture sectors. In his opening remarks, President Akufo Addo expressed gratitude to Parliament for approving his Ministerial nominees.

He said the “thorough manner through which the ministers were scrutinised by the Appointments Committee and the approval by the full House of each of the 29 substantive Ministers, was an indication of the collective determination of both sides to work together for the good of the country.

Touching on the recent judgment delivered by the Supreme Court, President Akufo-Addo said the verdict, which was a unanimous decision, proved his validity for a Second Term in Office.

Touching on the economy, the President said it is in good health and attractive to investors in spite of the damages caused by of the coronavirus pandemic. He was confident that, with the progress of the vaccination programme, the economy will recover quickly, and work towards putting the nation back onto the path of progress and prosperity.

The President pledged to build a more inclusive society in which things will work for all and Ghana will fulfill its potential as the Black Star of Africa. He promised to strengthen institutions of democracy, and manage public resources with integrity, fairness, openness and accountability.
