“Write for World Challenge 2019” finals held at Santrokofi

A non-profit organisation, Service Club, Write for World Charities has organized the final phase of its maiden project dubbed, “Write for World Challenge 2019” for Junior High School Students at Santrokofi in the Oti Region. The project which began a few months ago saw seventy students participating, out of which twenty-five will be qualified for the final stage. The students attained the fifty percent pass mark in the first stage of the competition, which was written in the comfort of their homes.

The “Write for World Challenge 2019” seeks to promote literacy in deprived communities in the country. The maiden edition which was held at Santrokofi -Bume, was participated by students from the three communities of Santrokofi Traditional Area, namely Bume, Gbodome and Benua. It was themed, “Discovering the potentials of students in creative writing, building a generation of critical thinkers”.

The Project Coordinator of the “Write for World Charities”, Jonas Kojo Mabe said the project will be extended to adjourning communities and therefore appealed to philanthropists, corporate organisations and individuals for support to make the project an annual exercise. He disclosed that, as part of the writing competition, awards will be given to successful students who have gone through training and monitoring to sharpen their creative skills to help reduce the high rate of illiteracy in rural communities. Mr. Mabe highlighted the objectives of the project.
