There was chaos at the Akurem Junior High School polling station in the Asawase constituency when the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) members protested the presence of Manaf Ibrahim, the Parliamentary Candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The incident happened as Manaf Ibrahim, who arrived early to cast his vote, refused to accept preferential treatment.
Normally, candidates are allowed to vote quickly and leave to oversee other polling stations. However, Manaf chose to join the queue with ordinary voters, saying he wanted to connect with his community and experience the process like everyone else.
His decision sparked tension, but voting resumed after calm was restored.
