Mr. Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, the presidential candidate for the Movement for Change party, has outlined his plans to support digital content creators, influencers, bloggers, and vloggers.

Speaking during the AFRAFRANTO Youth Dialogue on GTV on Sunday, December 1, 2024, he emphasised his vision to empower the creative industry and enhance opportunities in the digital space if elected as president.

Mr. Kyerematen announced his intention to establish a Creative Arts Development Fund to support young artists, filmmakers, musicians, and digital creators. He highlighted the broad scope of the creative industry, which includes music, dance, film, theater, and fine arts, emphasising that all these areas deserve financial backing to thrive.

Addressing issues in the digital space, he promised to facilitate training programs and provide global market exposure for digital creators, enabling them to expand their reach and monetise their content effectively. “There are many talented bloggers and influencers in Ghana who are not fully monetising their work. With the right support, they can achieve incredible success on the international stage,” he said.

To further bolster the industry, Mr. Kyerematen pledged to:
Enact and enforce legislation to protect intellectual property rights.
Offer tax rebates and incentives to reduce the high cost of internet connectivity, especially for young people.
Establish business process outsourcing (BPO) centers to create thousands of jobs, taking inspiration from successful models in India and Jamaica.

In a groundbreaking move, he also promised to provide free satellite internet connectivity at 100,000 key locations across Ghana.

“This is a major development that will open doors for young people in the digital space,” he said.
Mr. Kyerematen emphasised his involvement in the digital sector, citing his experience in developing technology products, including the Trade Africa Online app. He assured the youth that his plans were rooted in practical, real-world solutions to address their challenges and create sustainable opportunities in the digital and creative industries.

The AFRAFRANTO Youth Dialogue provided a platform for Mr. Kyerematen to connect with young people and share his vision for a digital and creative revolution in Ghana.
