Reports of missing names and verification challenges have created frustration and delays in the ongoing 2024 elections across the country.
In some polling stations, voters arrived only to find their names missing from the electoral roll. At the Old Library polling station at the Ledzokuku Constituency, confusion erupted as voters questioned why their names were absent. Similar problems were reported at the Ablekuma Central Constituency, raising doubts about the accuracy of the voter register.
In other areas like Tamale Central and Wulensi, malfunctioning Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs) caused temporary halts to the voting process. At the Faith Academy polling station in Ledzokuku, voting had not started hours into the day due to faulty devices.
The delays have led to rising tensions among voters, with some expressing fears of being unable to vote.
Meanwhile, election officials have called for calm and assured voters that the issues are being resolved quickly to ensure everyone gets the chance to cast their vote.
