The 1989-year group of old students of Wa Senior High School (WASSOSA) has handed over a 5-unit classroom block renovated at the cost of GH₵56,000 to the management of the school.
The Upper West Regional Chapter Chairman of Wa Senior High School Old Students Association (WASSOSA), Dr Solomon Dansieh, said, “the idea of renovation started in 2022 when we launched our 50th anniversary, and from then a number of projects have been undertaken by the mother group of WASSOSA as well as other groups.”
He stated that a number of interventions in terms of projects are taking place and that at the appropriate time they will be inaugurated.
A member of the 1989 year group, Seidu Ibrahim Bomanjo, said the year group’s gesture was to give back modest support to their alma mater.
He continued, “there were little, little contributions from members to undertake the project and we managed to raise a little over 56 thousand Ghana for the project.”
The Headmaster of Wa Senior High School (WASEC), Alhaji Adams Iddrisu Thirdman, was excited about the renovation by the 1989 year group of the 5-unit classroom known as Block “E”, saying they started from the roof to the foundation.
He mentioned the urinals in front of the Chinese block as well as giving a facelift to the entrance of the WASEC as additional work done by the 1989 year group.
Mr Thirdman also appealed to the Upper Regional Director of Education, Razak Abdul Korah, “to do something” by using his position to get additional projects to the school to accommodate the increasing number of students and told the gathering the school has taken delivery of 2456 tablets for learning.
The Regional Director of Education, Mr Razak Abdul Korah, was equally thankful to the benefactors for reaching out to their alma mater.
Commenting on the 2,456 tablets, that have been supplied to WASEC, Mr Abdul Korah announced that the GES is contracting someone to develop a charging system for the tablets that have been supplied to WASEC to be utilised.
The Wa Municipal Director of Education, Madam Sophia Dimah Nandzo, commended Mr Thirdman for showing leadership and relating appropriately with various groups to attract support for WASEC.
She admonished the students to be studious in order to achieve their aim of enrolling at WASEC.
An official of WASSOSA, Dr Abudu Sakara, handed over the keys to Block “E” to the Headmaster, Alhaji Thirdman.
