Brexit dominated day one of a key EU summit in Brussels this week after the EU and UK announced that they had come to a deal ahead of the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union.
Leaders of EU countries meet in the Belgian capital for day two of the get-together, which will cover EU enlargement and budget. Overnight, EU leaders failed to agree on launching accession talks with North Macedonia and Albania to enlarge the bloc.
They issued a statement condemning Turkey’s military incursion into Syria and urging the country to end military action after Turkey agreed to a 5-day ceasefire.
The summit is happening under the umbrella of the European Council, which is led by Donald Tusk and made up of heads of government from across the block.
